Hello Neighbour,
My name is Barb Rybiak, your Candidate for Councillor, Ward 2, Town of Pelham. I am a homeowner who resides in Ward 2.
For years, as a teacher, my job was to listen, do the homework and work hard every day to help our children succeed. Now, I am ready to bring that same dedication, accountability -and care- as your Ward 2 Councillor for the Town of Pelham.
Our small Municipality of Pelham is a wonderful place to live, but we are facing real challenges which require active, transparent – informed– leadership. Our council needs to continue to listen to residents, protect our uniqueness – the heart of Niagara we are – and, without question, spend our tax dollars wisely. As a past member of the Town of Pelham Active Transportation committee and Pelham Public Art Committee, I understand the workings of government.
Our neighbourhood – Ward 2- deserves an active voice that listens. Allow me to be the change you want to see: Your dedicated voice for a vibrant, accessible and fiscally responsible Pelham. I would be honoured to earn your vote as Councillor in Ward 2, Town of Pelham.
“Let’s build a Council that truly represents
ALL of Pelham”
I am running for Council because I believe Ward 2 deserves a Councillor who is accessible, prepared and entirely focused on our community’s future. The Town of Pelham Council works best when it reflects our entire community. As a woman running for Council in Ward 2, I am proud and willing to bring that unique, balanced perspective to the table.
WHAT I STAND FOR...
PELHAM IS A UNIQUE MUNICIPALITY IN NIAGARA
As we move forward as a municipality, we must not forget the voice of our neighbour and fellow taxpayer. Future developments must be done thoughtfully and fairly.
OUR SENIORS BUILT PELHAM. Let’s make certain our tax increases aren’t putting us out of the community we love!
Community Connection
Ensure any new housing developments respect our existing communities and the taxpayers who live there with “No unwelcomed surprises”. Pedestrian and traffic safety (e.g., working with the Region about Hwy.20 traffic density) – and the protection of our green spaces and farmland – these are paramount.
Responsible Spending
Committed to “doing the homework” on the Town budget to ensure our hard-earned tax dollars are spent efficiently and wisely.
Sports Facilities And Outdoor Recreation Spaces and Trails
Pelham thrives on great sport facilities and opportunities for our youth and residents – and for seniors, like me. We have the BEST community centre of all the Municipalities of Niagara.
The Marlene Stewart Streit Pool is being rejuvenated and made accessible for Summer 2027. These facilities offer great summer employment for our youth.
Local Businesses, Restaurants and Enterprises
The backbone of our thriving community- We need to be present to support them and promote them.
Our Farming Community
Raised on a small farm in Fenwick, I understand and respect the important history and role of our farming community in Pelham.
Age Friendly Living and Accessibility
The Town of Pelham has a large, proud population of older adults. It has even been recognized with an Age- Friendly Communities Award in 2026. Pelham needs to support this demographic by continuing to provide the accessibility, housing and social support our Seniors deserve. OUR SENIORS BUILT PELHAM. Let’s make certain our tax increases aren’t putting us out of the community we love! My pledge is to go line-by -line of the budget, to work effectively with the Region services so that taxes are not out of control.
The Town of Pelham remains an all-round safe and healthy community, an excellent place to live and raise a family.
